Distinguishing characteristics: esca with stout, unpigmented anterior appendage; pair of medial escal appendages each consisting of 2 to 3 branched filaments, distal tips pigmented; terminal escal papilla truncated; stout, unpigmented posterior escal appendage; absence of lateral escal appendages; long illicium; absence of epibranchial teeth, presence of teeth on pharyngobranchial II; upper jaw teeth 50-145, lower jaw teeth 59-137; vomer with 6-14 teeth (Ref. 086949). | |||
