This species is distinguished by the following characters: no barbels around mouth'; teeth simple (not three-lobed); head pores 2-6-7-2; snout is narrow, duck-like protruding, 3.2 times as long as eye, no vertical cleft; body deep and compressed; pupil dot-like, round; gill opening 0.8 eye diameter; vertebrae 62; D 56; A 45; P 36; C 13 (2+5/5+1). Colouration: when alive, colour pink, with clearly defined red-brown oval rings (Ref .132302).
Cross section: compressed.
Collected from the bottom areas with sandy grounds (Ref. 132302).
