Dorsal soft rays (total): 9; Anal soft rays: 21 - 24; Vertebrae: 31 - 33. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: six red dotted longitudinal stripes on the flanks; narrow dark midlateral stripe along the longitudinal septum of body, extending from second humeral blotch to median caudal-fin rays; presence of two humeral blotches; five scale rows between dorsal-fin origin and lateral line; 12-14 circumpeduncular scales; presence of adipose fin; 21-25 anal-fin branched rays; two humeral blotches; 3 cusps on largest dentary teeth; absence of a bony rhinosphenoid; absence of a conspicuous ethmopalatine cartilage; absence of denticles on gill rakers (Ref. 132478).
