This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: a spindle-shaped thoracic adhesive apparatus, with shallow median depression that is widely opened posteriorly by skin ridges; deep body (depth at anus 12.3-14.4% SL); length of caudal peduncle (20.8-21.6% SL); slender caudal peduncle (8.5-9.0% SL); short predorsal length (34.0-35.8% SL) unculiferous ridges of adhesive apparatus not extending anteriorly onto gular region; plicate on ventral surfaces first pectoral and pelvic fins rays, smooth skin on head and body; two broad pale cream longitudinal stripes on body (Ref. 133097).

This species in found in waters with hard substrate, specifically composed of cobbles, boulders and rocks (Ref. 133097).
