Eastern Atlantic: Bay of Biscay, the Mediterranean, and from the Strait of Gibraltar to Angola. Also known from Madeira, Cape Verde and the Canary Islands.

Biologi     Ordlista (t.ex. epibenthic)

Gregarious, forms aggregations over rocky bottoms or seagrass beds (Zostera and seaweeds). Omnivorous but feeds mainly on small invertebrates (Ref. 3688). Important food fish.
