Etymology: Psenopsis: Greek, psenos, -e, -on = without hair + Greek, opsis = appearance (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Dr Yoichi Shojima worked at the Seikai Regional Fisheries Research Laboratory. It was named after him as it was he “…who originally collected and is the first to describe the species from our areas.” (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
